Does the named insured's umbrella drop down for an auto liability claim if the personal auto policy is exhausted?

Yes, on this insured's policy. Your Personal Umbrella endorsement [1] follows form to the underlying Personal Auto liability limits of $250k/$500k/$100k. Once those are exhausted, the umbrella responds up to the $1M aggregate limit.

Coverage is subject to the SIR of $250 for non-underlying claims [2].

'My tractor is in the shop. Am I covered?'

Inland marine vs farm equipment vs scheduled. We pull the form and the schedule together.

Custom farming coverage gaps

When a farmer custom-harvests for a neighbor, is the liability on his FMP? It depends on the form.

Crop hail vs MPCI overlap

Where private hail coverage stops and federal multi-peril picks up, with state-level rules.

Try a question.

Does the FMP cover a tractor while it's being transported on a flatbed to a custom job?
On AAIS FL-1 with the Farm Equipment Coverage Form, scheduled equipment is generally covered for transit, BUT coverage may be excluded if the equipment is being used in custom farming operations and that exposure isn't endorsed. Check whether the named insured has a Custom Farming endorsement and whether the destination is within the policy's territorial limits. [1] AAIS FL-1 p.7 [2] Custom Farming Endorsement FL-220.
